WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide, is set to introduce a cross-messaging feature which will enable users to communicate seamlessly across different messaging platforms. In layman terms, people who use Signal, Skype, telegram or Snapchat will now be able to send messages to WhatsApp users without having to create a WhatsApp account.

According to webetainfo, the cross messaging feature will not be switched on by default but one would have to do so themselves as third-party app chats won’t be able to mingle in one inbox, hence when you opt-in to cross-app messaging your third-party conversations will be put into a separate third-party chats inbox. Meaning there would be some extra taps required to open them.

To many Zimbabweans this might not be a big thing but here is how this feature will affect us and change the way we communicate with each other. This new feature give us enhanced connectivity with each other as it enables users on different platforms to connect and communicate with each other seamlessly. It breaks down the barriers between different messaging apps and expands the network of people with whom we can interact as we have different preferences when it comes to these messaging applications.

The new feature will also bring a lot of convenience to everyone who uses these platforms as integrating multiple messaging platforms into a single interface simplifies communication for users. We would no longer need to switch between different apps to reach out to friends or colleagues who use different platforms therefore allowing us to switch between different platforms without disrupting ongoing conversations.

Lastly the new cross messaging feature will give users a larger audience and connect with people who may not be on the same messaging app as them as it enhances the potential for networking and collaborating. This surely is exciting news for the business community as they will have access to more potential clients hence this feature is definitely a game changer.
